Let me tell you a little bit more about my story.
Not too long ago, I was living off odd jobs in San Diego, California, going to every convention I could, having my portfolio endlessly reviewed, and in general not getting very far in the comic world. It was a challenging time, but everything changed when I met a very special and influential comic artist who became my mentor. He was the only one who gave me a chance, and his guidance and support were invaluable.
Unfortunately, my mentor passed away not long after that experience, which was devastating for me. I went through a tough time personally, and my art took a backseat as I worked a 9-5 job. However, I eventually made the decision to break free from the cubicle and travel the world. During that time, I rediscovered my passion for drawing and committed to it every single day. Starting from nothing more than a childhood dream, I relentlessly pursued my artistic goals.
It was all or nothing!
I posted my art on social media daily and treated it like a job. There was no turning back. Just a few short months later, an editor from a well-known publisher contacted me with an opportunity to contribute to a book honoring the legacy of my mentor. The entire experience was surreal and hard to describe. It was during this time that I had an epiphany-
I wanted to honor his memory by teaching and coaching budding artists, just like my late mentor did with me.
